Friday June 5, 1959; Sheboygan Press Mrs. Alfred A Raeder, 66, of Elkhart Lake died at about 9:30 a.m. today at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness. The former Amanda Williams, she was born at Elkhart Lake November 25, 1892, a daughter of the late John and Dora Williams. On May 14, 1917, she was married to Alfred Raeder at Elkhart Lake and has lived there since. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and of the Womens Guild of the Community Evangelical and Reformed Church, Elkhart Lake. Survivors include her husband, a daughter, Mrs. George (Dorothy) Paul of Dearborn, Michigan; two grandchildren, two brothers, Clemens Williams of New York City and Milton Williams of Sheboygan, and a sister Mrs. Wallace Lenz of Denver, Colorado. Her parents and a brother preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at the Raeder Funeral Home, Elkhart Lake, at 8 p.m. MOnday and burial will be in the Elkhart Lake Cemetery. The Rev. Paul A. Olm, pastor of the Community Evangelican and Reformed Church will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday.
Sheboygan Press: Monday May 16, 1960 A. A. Raeder, 67, Elkhart Lake Businessman, Dies Elkhart Lake: Alfred A Raeder, 67, president and manager of the Farmers Mercantile and Supply Co., died suddenly Saturday evening at his home in the Village. He had been president of the supply company since 1926 and also operated the Raeder Funeral Home in connection with the business. A prominent citizen of Elkhart Lake, Mr. Raeder formerly served as village president, village clerk and as a member of the village's board of trustees. Born May 7, 1893, at Elkhart Lake, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Raeder, he graduated from the Plymouth High School and on May 14, 1917, was married to Miss Amanda Williams. He hade his home in Elkhart Lake his entire life. Mr. Raeder served as secretary of the Laun Lumber and Furniture Co. for 19 years and for many years was affiliated with the Elkhart Lake Sand and Gravel Co., serving as a vice-president of the corporation. For the past 24 years, he headed the Farmers Mercantile and Supply Co., a firm dealing in lumber, building materials, flour and feed, coal, wood, furniture, appliances and agricultural implements. He was a member of the Community Evangelical and Reformed Church of Elkhart Lake. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. George (Dorothy) Paul of Dearborn, Michigan; two grandchildren; two brothers Arthur J Raeder, Elkhart Lake and Valentine of Plymouth, and a sister Miss Lulu Raeder, Niagra Falls, N.Y. His wife preceded him in death on June 5, 1959. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Raeder Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul A. Olm, pastor of the Community Evangelical and Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Elkhart Lake Cemetery. the body will lie in state at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
