Marian Flora(Perry) Halfman June 2, 1920 - June 2, 2006
SALEM - Daughter of Joseph and Celia (Gilbert) Perry of Shaw, Ore. S he was the beloved wife of Harold A. Halfman, who survives her. Harold a nd Marian were married on November 21, 1939, and would have celebrated the ir 67th wedding anniversary this year. She was cherished and is surviv ed by her four sons, Jerry & Connie, Merill & Kathy, Tim & Sandi, and T ed & Theresa Halfman all of Salem; ten grandchildren; and 10 great-grandch ildren; sister, Rose Martin of Gresham, Ore.; and many nieces and nephe ws will greatly miss her.
Marian and Harold were active members of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Sal em for 60 years. She was never idol and enjoyed many interests and hobbie s. Her primary love was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildr en. She could most often be found in her yard and flowers, which she tend ed and nurtured as a labor of love. Her green thumb and handiwork were rec ognized and enjoyed by all passers-by. She loved a challenge, especially w hen it came to a game of cards. She and Harold played some type of cards d aily and she loved when visitors would stay “just” long enough for a qui ck game. When all was quiet, Marian used her time to crochet and receiv ed several State Fair blue ribbons for her efforts.
Marian gave her love and friendship to all her many family members and fri ends. She was most commonly knows as ‘Mom,’ ‘Grandma,’ and ‘GG.’ She touch ed all our lives, each in her own special way, knowing and loving us indiv idually. She will be forever missed and loved.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at St. Jose ph Catholic Church in Salem. Private interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Arran gements are by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Director s.
Harold August "Pops" Halfman

SALEM - Harold August "Pops" Halfman was born on June 29, 1915 in Walnut C reek, California to John Halfman and Margaret Meyer. He was raised in Sub limity, Oregon. On November 21, 1939 he married Marian Flora Perry. Th ey made their home in Salem, Oregon where they lived for 62 years. Mari an preceded him in death in 2006. He joined her on July 24, 2008. For a ll that knew him, he was our "Pops".
In 1944, Pops joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in the Aleutian Islan ds. Pops was a carpenter by profession but Pops was also a winemake r. He loved the challenge of growing his own berries and creating the per fect wine. In, 1980 he established "Harold's Harvest" and entered his wi ne in various competitions and the Oregon State Fair where he was reward ed by winning "Best in Show" two years and at least a ribbon every o ne of the 23 years he entered. In 2004 the Oregon State Fair honored h im with the Oregon Dreamers Award.
Pops was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church for over 60 year s. Besides his love of his faith, Pops cherished his family and nothing c aused his eyes to twinkle and dance like the sight of his precious great g randchildren. He loved to have them clamber upon his lap and shower him w ith hugs and kisses! He greeted them always with a smile -- and a litt le candy treat tucked in his shirt pocket, for which they excitedly search ed and found.
Pops is survived by his four sons and their spouses, Jerry and Connie, Me rill and Kathy, Tim and Sandi and Ted and Theresa, all of Salem. He is al so survived by 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; Peg Halfman; a nd numerous nieces and nephews. Everyone that knew Pops adored and respec ted him. Our lives have been blessed and we rejoice that he is again reun ited with Mom. Love you Pops!
Services with Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at S t. Joseph Catholic Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers do nations may be made to: Parrish Little League, P.O. Box 13727, Sale m, OR 97309 or Hospice of the Northwest. Funeral arrangements entrust ed to Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors.
