Harold and Marian were married on November 21, 1939, and would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this year. She was cherished and is survived by her four sons, Jerry & Connie, Merill & Kathy, Tim & Sandi, and Ted & Theresa Halfman all of Salem; ten grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Rose Martin of Gresham, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews will greatly miss her.
Marian and Harold were active members of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Salem for 60 years. She was never idol and enjoyed many interests and hobbies. Her primary love was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She could most often be found in her yard and flowers, which she tended and nurtured as a labor of love. Her green thumb and handiwork were recognized and enjoyed by all passers-by. She loved a challenge, especially when it came to a game of cards. She and Harold played some type of cards daily and she loved when visitors would stay "just" long enough for a quick game. When all was quiet, Marian used her time to crochet and received several State Fair blue ribbons for her efforts.
Marian gave her love and friendship to all her many family members and friends. She was most commonly knows as 'Mom,' 'Grandma,' and 'GG.' She touched all our lives, each in her own special way, knowing and loving us individually. She will be forever missed and loved. Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salem. Private interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Arrangements are by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors.
